These plants are unique, as they are only found in Jamaica. It is important to take care of them, as they contribute to our 27% plant endemism, ranking fifth among the islands in the world!

We are digitizing our collection

The Botany department has started to digitize the collection utilizing the SPECIFY software. About 60% of the specimens are already digitized!

The collection is an important reference of first-hand information for local and international researchers on Jamaican and Caribbean flora in areas such as plant identification, plant distribution or even to look at their physical features.
